LOS ANGELES - An earthquake of 5.1 struck the Los Angeles area . The epicenter was located 32 kilometers south of the metropolis. The quake occurred at 9.11 in the evening ( 5.11 in Italy ) . Firefighters , police and city officials are looking into whether there have been any damage to people or things. The Seismological Institute reported that the U.S. has struck near Brea, in the county of Oranga .
It was felt as far as San Diego and Ventura County , according to data collected by USGS . Near the epicenter were detected minor damage , such as gas leaks and a landslide. Some witnesses have reported cracked walls or fallen , swimming pools drained of water to the shaking of the ground and fallen trees .
At least five aftershocks of power between 2.7 and 3.6 have followed the main earthquake , while two strengths 3.6 and 2.1 had preceded him .
