It was December 27, 2004, when a blast of the magnetar SGR 1806-20 hit the Earth with a wave of gamma rays powerful enough to affect the Earth's ionosphere
and blind the sensors of all satellites in orbit. Fortunately, the source was located about 50,000 light years from Earth. It had been a few light years away, the blast would destroy the ozone layer that protects our atmosphere, with potentially catastrophic consequences for the entire pianeta.E 'strange that a few hours before this cosmic event, in Indonesia and in particular off the island of Sumatra, an earthquake of magnitude 9.1-9.3 Richter caused a tsunami that would have caused 250,000 deaths! According to some researchers the two events might be linked and another galactic wave of this magnitude and 'waiting around Christmas 2016. Stay tuned!
