France - Death 40 cows. The court orders the shutdown of 4G antenna near the farm

06/08/2022 - A farmer from Haute-Loire has asked for the suspension of a 4G relay antenna after losingaround forty cows on his farm and noticed a 15-20% drop in milk production.

The administrative court of Clermont-Ferrand ordered on Monday 23 May the suspension for two months of a 4G relay antenna suspected, by a farmer in the Haute-Loire, of damaging the health of his flock.

"There is reason to order this temporary suspension of the operation of this antenna for a period of two months, given its general implications, with the lawyer monitoring the behavior of the herd, and dairy cows in particular, on this term ”, states the judge in his order.

The court gave the state and operators, including Orange, three months to carry out the disruption and organize safety and emergency calls in the affected area.

“It's a great relief and a victory,” farmer Frédéric Sagères reacted to AFP, hoping that his flock will recover “as soon as possible”.

Interviewed by AFP, the operator Orange declined to comment on this decision.

About 40 dead cows

Since installing this 4G antenna, in July 2021, 200 meters from his farm in Mazeyrat-d'Allier (Haute-Loire), Frédéric Sagères claims to have lost about forty cows out of a herd of 200, while simultaneously detecting a significant drop in milk production.

During the court hearing on Friday, the court-appointed legal expert in Puy-en-Velay decided in favor of a temporary hiatus, to allow him to continue his experience.

"This herd is between 10% and 20% richest in the department" and "I have no medical evidence to explain the sudden drop in milk production, from 15% to 20%, in the days following the installation of the 'antenna, ”he explained.

The mayor of Mazeyrat-d'Allier, Philippe Molhérat, who had authorized the installation of the antenna, had testified to the alarming state of the herd, fearing "a human catastrophe" and evoking "the growing concern" of the 1,500 inhabitants of the village. .

The lawyers of the three mobile operators concerned, Orange, Free and Bouygues Telecom, had alleged the absence of scientific elements that established a link between animal health and electromagnetic fields.
