The court of Monsanto-Bayer: "The decisive factor for cancer glyphosate"

The herbicide containing glyphosate Roundup "was a determining factor" in procuring cancer to a man of 70 years, Edwin Hardeman, who used it for decades in his garden. This was established by a Californian court unanimously inflicting the second blow in a year to Monsanto already ordered to pay 78 million dollars on Dewayne Johnson gardener who has led the multinational to trial believing glyphosate in Roundup responsible for her cancer. The American giant has also been accused of denying the existence of health risks. Both Johnson to Hardeman was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

The new ruling came Tuesday March 19 and now the process moves into a second phase in which the jury will consider the question of liability and damages.

Jurors deliberated for almost a week before assessing the only question I had to answer in the first phase of the process. The district courts of the United States, Vince Chhabria, has drastically limited the evidence that jurors were able to hear in the first phase and has largely excluded the examination of evidence on alleged Monsanto actions to control or manipulate scientific documentation. But these tests will be the focus of the second process step.

The verdict was a significant victory not only for Hardeman, but for the thousands of plaintiffs in the US who have sued Monsanto, and also stated that exposure to herbicides based on non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the company caused glyphosate.

Obvious disappointment that the Bayer said she was certain that "science confirms that glyphosate-based herbicides do not cause cancer. We are confident that the evidence in the second phase will show that Monsanto's conduct was appropriate and that the company should not be held responsible for Mr. Hardeman "cancer.
