A giant crustal fracture is dividing Africa into two! (video)

A huge crack appeared in the southwest of Kenya, which has destroyed part of Nairobi-Narok highway.

The slit, kilometers long was caused by the recent seismic activity in the area. The East African crater that formed the Rift Valley stretches for 3000 km and divides the African platform in two parts, the Somali level and the Nubian, which diverge from each other at a rate of 6-7 mm per year.

138 million years ago, following the crushing of the earth's crust, Africa and South America separated from each other, even today one can observe that their coastlines fit together perfectly. It could happen the same for the Rift Valley, then the ocean will fill the void and will flood part of the African continent.
