Dead or missing in northern Chile due to heavy rainfall in the Atacama region. The authorities have declared a state of emergency and installed a command of the crisis in the regional capital, Copiapo,
about 800 km north
of the capital Santiago. The heavy rains on the region altogether unusual, since at Atacama desert is the namesake, considered the driest in the world - have caused flooding, damage to buildings and thousands displaced.
